NOTE: Cornelia grew up as a child of Dirk Althusius and Jitske van' zet with a sister Akke. However, Dirk had previously married Geertje Rinks Hania, a widow of Wijbe Lourens van der Molen with 4 children. One of these children, Sietske was Reinder Kramer's first wife with whom he had 5 children.

The story begins in Holland when Reinder Kramer married his second wife Cornelia Althuisius and brought her to his home in Chicago, Illinois. Already at home in Chicago were children of his first wife Sietske van der Molen. In fact there were five children already there. The children were Margaret, Rita, Anne, Rose and Walter.

Reinder (Richard) and his new wife Cornelia had three more daughters, Betty, Dorothy and Agnes. They also had a son, Andrew. We have no information or pictures of Andrew. We are told that Andrew at age 14 was hit by a train on a Sunday afternoon while going on a Sunday School picnic.

We have found a listing for a Coroners Inquest for Cook County, Illinois on an Andrew Kramer showing a date of death as 7 July 1904. The inquest was on 26 Jul 1904. We have been unable to verify if this was Andrew Kramer. According to Agnes, Andrew was about 14 at the time of his death. If this is accurate, then he would have to be a son of Sietjske and not Cornelia. Cornelia and Reinder were married about 1900 with their first child, Betty, born 18 Aug 1901. More research needs to be done on this subject.

In the late 1920's, Cornelia, Reinder and the three daughters moved to Southern California. Children from his first marriage remained in Chicago with their own families. We're glad you came to visit and if you have any questions, feel free to email Richard Bultman.
