Cornelia Althuisius arrived in the America probably about 1900. Ellis Island Records does not show any information about her arrival. There is information that her husband arrived with his first wife in 1893 and again in 1912. The 1912 trip to The Netherlands was a visit to see his family.

Cornelia (Korneliske) grew up with siblings from her fathers second marriage. Her father, Dirk Althuisius married Jitske van't Zet in 1865. Cornelia was born in 1869 and her sister, Akke in 1866. Jitske died 27 July 1870. Dirk then married a widow with 4 children, Geertje Rinks Hania.

One of the daughters of Geertje Rinks Hania (previously married to a Van der Molen), Sietske married Reinder Kramer and moved to Chicago. When Sietjske died in Chicago after giving birth to 5 children, Reinder then sent for Korneliske (Cornelia).

This photograph was found among the papers, documents and photos of Joe Bultman and Dorothy Kramer Bultman. It could be from either side of the family. Bultman, Althuisius, Kramer or a branch of the family. Evident by the markings at the bottom it was taken in Heerenveen, The Netherlands.

However, I am unfamilar with dress in the 1800's so I have no idea when this might have been taken. The photographer or studio appears to be H. P. E. de la Roche Buse.

1. Cornelia (Korneliske) Althuisius. Born on 19 Jun 1869 in Spannum, Holland. Cornelia (Korneliske) died in Los Angeles, California on 23 Dec 1943; she was 74. In 1900 when Cornelia (Korneliske) was about 30, she married Reinder Kramer.

1a. Reinder Kramer Born on 17 May 1860 in Kubbard, Holland. He died in Los Angeles about 1939. He was 69.

1b. Sietske Vander Molen. Born 16 Jun 1866 in Oosterend, Holland. She married Reinder Kramer as his first wife. Sietske was a daughter of Geertje Rinks Hania who married Vander Molen. Vander Molen died. Geertje married Durk Taekes Althuisius as his second wife. Geertje had 4 children from her marriage to Vander Molen. Sietske was one. Sietske and Cornelia grew up in the same house as Cornelia and was 3 years older than Cornelia

10. Jantje Bartels Hoestra (2nd wife of Geradus Durks Althuisius) Born 9 Aug 1793 Rauwerd. Died 15 May 1863 Gauw.
It is through Gerardus Durks Althuisius's second wife Jantje that we trace the Althuisius family to its present day. As we find other sources of information for other members of the family, we will present them here.
